Billy G. Hackett, age 86 of Bethlehem, died Monday, December 4, 2017 at New Castle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. He was born April 20, 1931 in Bethlehem, and was the son of the late James Curtis Hackett and Sally Florence Roberts Hackett. He was a farmer and worked at General Electric in Louisville for thirty-six years. He belonged to Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was a very avid University of Kentucky Wildcat fan. He was a United States Air Force veteran, and served in Korea.
He is survived by two daughters: Pamela Jean Hackett Pryor (Muncey) of New Castle and Joy Denise Hackett James (Tom) of Bethlehem; six grandchildren: Jesse Pryor, Christopher Bruther, Sheana Pryor, Eden Pryor Hottell, Sean James, and Nicholas James; eight great-grandchildren: Will Bruther, Adalira Rosario, Ruby Rosario, Bri Bruther, Ethan Bruther, Jordan Pryor, Kyler Rosario, and Noah Rosario.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Maretta Joyce Arnold Hackett; a grandson: Jordon Pryor; and his brother: John Herbert Hackett.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Services will be officiated by Rev. Travis Sheehan. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville, and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are John Kelly, John Roberts, Randy McAlister, Tommy McAlister, Ryan Roberts, Joey Kephart, Vernon Woods, Julian Porter Roberts, and Ronnie Grigsby. Active pallbearers are Jesse Pryor, Christopher Bruther, Sean James, Nicholas James, Adam Hottell, and Joey Rosario.
