Dorothy Baxter Mcalister

Dorothy Baxter McAlister, 92, of Bethlehem, KY went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 2, 2022. She was preceded in death by: her husband of 60 years, Elzy Lee McAlister; parents Alma and Celester Baxter; brothers R.C. Baxter and William H. Baxter, sisters Mary Elizabeth Simpson and Lorene Downey; son-in-law Calvin Porter Roberts and daughter-in-law Shirley McAlister.

She is survived by her children: Linda McAlister Roberts, Randy Lee McAlister, and Tommy Glen (Pam) McAlister; grandchildren Mike (Shelly) McAlister, Jason McAlister, Jodi McAlister, Ryan (Brittany) Roberts, LeeAnn Martin, and step-grandson Tommy (Vanessa) Corley; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; brother-in-law Minice McAlister Jr.; sister-in-law Norma Heightchew; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

At an early age, Dorothy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a lifelong active member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She truly loved the way Christ loves; she lived a servant’s life and modeled a servant’s heart. Over the years she taught Sunday School, served as a “prayer warrior”, facilitated meals for the various children’s programs, provided flowers from her garden for church services and visits to the sick and homebound, prepared communion, & helped dress characters for the Living Nativity Scene. Her caring spirit and generous heart were felt by many.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 followed by a service at 2 p.m. at Sholar Funeral Home with a graveside service and interment in the Pleasureville Cemetery. Rev. Travis Sheehan will officiate the services. [In order to promote a safe gathering, masks are encouraged and will be available if needed.]

Pallbearers will be: Tommy Corley, Mike McAlister, Jason McAlister, Ryan Roberts, Brent McAlister, Chance Ashby, Tanner Ashby, Bryce McAlister, Brody McAlister and Braxton McAlister.
