Dorothy Louise Willhite Wood

Dorothy Louise Willhite Wood, age 100 of Pleasureville died Monday, January 31, 2022 at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in New Castle. She was born on March 25, 1921 to the late Leonard Y. Willhite and Ethel Radcliffe Willhite. She worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. She was a member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church and was involved in United Methodist Women.

Dorothy is survived by three daughters: Judy Wood Lyons (Alan) of Midlothian, Virginia, Peggy Wood Craigmyle (Billy) of Pleasureville and Jean Wood Peniston (Terry) of Lexington; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren. four great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Wood, three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Jesse Landers will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 12 p.m. until time of the service.

Active pallbearers will be Justin Craigmyle, Austin Craigmyle, Scott Craigmyle, Vincent Bates, Chad Thomas and John Sparks.

The family wants to thank Dorothy’s caregivers: Desiree Embs and Rhoda Satchwell.
