Evelyn Woods Downey

Evelyn Woods Downey, age 80 of Pleasureville died Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at University of Louisville Hospital. She was born on May 5, 1941 to the late Thomas Lawson Woods and Virginia Rose Beutel Woods. She was a homemaker, farmer and a caregiver and was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.

Evelyn is survived by two sons: Coleman Downey (Sissy) of Pleasureville and Fred Downey (DeAnne) of Eminence; one daughter: Lynn Elmore of Pleasureville; one brother: Jesse Woods of Pleasureville; three sisters: Rose Roberts of Eminence, Dianne Adams of Campbellsburg and Connie Straughn (Donald) of Pleasureville; one aunt: Sally Hance of Middletown; five grandchildren: Chris Downey (Megan), Brett Downey (Ashley), Kyle Downey, Derrick Downey and Hannah Elmore; four great-grandchildren: Eli, Kinley, Tilley and Murphy; one honorary grandchild: Olivia Herrell and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Selbert Downey; and two sisters: Bonnie Downey and Debbie Calvert.

A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Bro. Travis Sheehan and Bro. Michael Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial will be at Eminence Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and 11 a.m. until time of the service on Sunday.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hannah Elmore and Olivia Herrell. Active pallbearers will be Coleman Downey, Fred Downey, Chris Downey, Brett Downey, Kyle Downey and Derrick Downey.
