Jessie Mae Mitchell

March 11, 1929 — February 17, 2017

Jessie Mae Carter Mitchell, age 87 of Lexington, died Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville. She was born March 11, 1929 in Lockport, and was the daughter of the late Linden and Frances Nile Sutton Carter. She was a retired accountant for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Lexington, and was a member of Lockport Baptist Church.

She is survived by two brothers: William Allen Carter (Noreen Speakman) of Crestwood, and Charles Emil Carter (Betty) of Owenton; one sister: Naomi Staples (James E. Brock) of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Charles F. Mitchell; her companion of many years: Hank Adams who died March 14, 2016; one brother: Gene Clifton Carter; and two sisters: Ruth O’Brien and Mildred Downey.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2017, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Services will be officiated by her nephew, Andy Lee Carter. Visitation will be from 11 a.m until time of services on Monday. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery.
