John Lee Kelly

John Lee Kelly, age 76 of Pleasureville, KY passed this life at his home on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. He was born and raised in Bethlehem, KY on  March 8, 1948, to John Robert and Margaret Martin Kelly. He was a lifelong member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He retired after 32 years as a Senior Design Engineer in the appliance division of General Electric and was a part-time farmer. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1971 from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Louisville in 1974. A devoted church and family man, John enjoyed watching his grandchildren play their sports. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Constantly moving, never still for any length of time, you would find him either planting flowers, tinkering and fixing things broken, woodworking and building something or shopping for the “bargain” at flea markets. 

Left to mourn his passing are his wife of nearly fifty years; Cynthia “Cindy” Dearing Kelly, a daughter; Linda Kelly (Kenneth) Agent of Lexington, KY, a son; Jeremy Lee (Brooke) Kelly of Prospect, KY, a sister; Mary Anne (Earl) Holmes of Pleasureville, KY and five grandchildren; Ryan Kelly, Tyler Kelly, Lauren Kelly, Trevor Agent and Kelsi Agent, his faithful golden retriever; Sir Henry VIII, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son; Jonathan Kelly in 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 8, 2024 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Sheehan officiating. Visitation will take place from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, July 7, 2024 at the Sholar-Riley Funeral Home and 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M., Monday at the church. Interment will be in the Pleasureville Cemetery.
