Mark Thomas McClaskey, 65, a beloved son, brother, and uncle, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. Born on January 28, 1959, in Louisville, he made a lasting impact on those around him throughout his life.
Mark dedicated much of his career as a corrections officer at Luther Luckett Correctional Complex, where he served diligently and with great commitment. Additionally, he contributed his skills and work ethic to Jericho Veneer Plant.
Mark was known not only for his professional contributions but also for the passions that filled his personal life. An avid fisherman, he found peace and joy in the great outdoors. His enthusiasm for sports was evident, particularly in his loyalty to UK Wildcat Basketball and his admiration for NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. These interests were a source of camaraderie among his family and friends, and they will remember him fondly during moments spent watching games and sharing in the thrill of the competition.
He leaves behind his mother, Gertrude Jean (Tingle) McClaskey of Turners Station, KY; one brother, Charles Dennis (Carol) McClaskey of Shelbyville, KY; two nieces, one nephew, three great-nieces, and two great-nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Charles Grafton McClaskey; his sister, Cinda Lea Sharp; and his two brothers, Steven Bruce McClaskey and Kevin Ray McClaskey, all of whom are remembered with love and fondness.
Visitation services for Mark will be held at Sholar-Riley Funeral Home in Pleasureville, KY. The first visitation will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and a second visitation will follow on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the same location on Friday, January 24, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM and will be officiated by the Rev. Jesse Landers. Burial will be in the Pleasureville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dezzmon Runion, Kyllier Runion, Randy Sharp, Randy Sharp, Jr., William Copley, Jr., and Cole McClearly.
Mark Thomas McClaskey will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy of dedication, kindness, and passion for life will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
