Owen Barton Smither

Owen Barton Smither, age 78, of Bethlehem, died Friday, February 26, 2016. He was born May 18, 1937 in Monterey and was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Smither and Katherine Thorton Smither. He was a carpenter with Local Union 64 and attended Lockport Baptist Church.

He is survived by his close friend and mother of his children: Doris of Pleasureville; three sons: Owen Randall Smither (Josephine) of Frankfort; Terry Lynn Smither of Frankfort, and Andrew Smither of Shelbyville; one sister: Mary Katherine Moore of Lockport; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great child; and caregivers: Jeannie Lyons and Sarah Aldridge.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville with Rev. Paul Briscoe, pastor of Lockport Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016 and from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Monday. Burial will be in Wallace Cemetery, Lockport, KY.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeannie Lyons, Doris Lyons, Terry Smither, Randy Smither, Hillis Beverly, and Billy Detwiler. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Smither, Sarah Aldridge, John Jaggers, Mike Gilbert, David Lyons, Calvin Beverly, Tony Beverly, and Dennis Jackson.
