Seattle Louise Goen

Ms. Seattle Louise (Willhite) Goen, age 92, returned to her Heavenly Father on March 6, 2024. Seattle was born in Bethlehem, Kentucky to Roy Willhite and Beulah (Harp) Willhite. She, big brother Tommy (Ruby), and her younger siblings Roy “Buck” Jr., Bobby, Billy, and Betty (Ronald) helped take care of one another on the farms they lived on with their parents. All have preceded her in death.

Seattle married WWII veteran Joe Johnson and they welcomed Danny (Rhonda) and Joann into the world in the 1950s. Danny and Joann would both grow up and have their own families and provide Seattle with multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren to carry on her memory and family legacies. Joe, Danny, and Joann all preceded her in death; as did Seattle’s second husband Charley Goen.

Seattle passed away after a long life of many heartbreaks and many blessings. She loved her family and the walls of her home were adorned with their photos. Through it all she did things her way and always showed great resilience. Even as she turned the corner of her last decade, she bemoaned how old she had gotten while still making sure everyone around her knew it was her 90th birthday. In her final week, it was obvious to those around her that she had made up her mind that it was “time to go home.” Once she made that decision, there was no denying her and she passed away peacefully in the company of family and friends.

Seattle leaves behind grandsons Jody (Jennifer) Johnson, Jamie (Tina) Blevins, and Timothy Blevins; and great-grandchildren Chapin Johnson, Leda Johnson, Justin Blevins, and Jordan Fairchild. Seattle also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Grace (Steven) Peck and Robin (Ervin) Slone who kept her company and helped care for her during the most challenging years of her health.

Visitation for Seattle Goen will take place at Sholar-Riley Funeral Home in Pleasureville, Kentucky on Saturday, March 9, 2024 with the visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Rev. Glen Waldon of House of Prayer, Austin Indiana, will be officiating at noon. Seattle will interred next to Joe at the Pleasureville Cemetery.
