Shirley Jacob "Chatty" Griffin

Shirley Jacob "Chatty" Griffin, a dedicated and hardworking individual, passed away on August 14, 2024 at Robley Rex VA Medical Center, in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. He was born on July 13, 1945, in La Grange, Oldham County, KY, to the late Shirley Griffin and Mildred (Hensley) Griffin St. Clair and spent most of his life in Lockport, KY.

Chatty was self-employed in the construction and carpentry industry, where he utilized his skills and passion for building, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with. He also served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, a testament to his dedication and service to his country. He was also a member of Pleasureville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his one daughter, Tammy Griffin Mattox of Paris, KY, and two sons, Jackee Shannon Griffin and Chad Griffin, both of Louisville, KY. Chatty was a proud grandfather, having one granddaughter, Griffin Bom, who lived with him in Pleasureville, KY, as well as several other grandchildren who brought joy to his life. He is also survived by his five sisters: Verna Adams, Ruby Nell Barnes, Doris Jean Lyons, all of La Grange, KY, Darlene St. Clair Cassidy of Flemingsburg, KY and Joyce St. Clair Mullins of Campbellsburg, Ky  and one brother, Billy St. Clair of Crestwood, KY.

Chatty was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jackee Drue Griffin, his daughter, Shelley Rae Griffin, his brother, James Ray Griffin, and his grandson, Aaron Keith Mattox. Their memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Sholar-Riley Funeral Home, located at 5710 Castle Hwy, Pleasureville, KY. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, KY. 

He will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, dedication to his family, and his contributions to his community.
